The grave of Private Robert Jones who was one of 11 soldiers awarded the VC at Rorkes Drift, South Africa. The position was defended by 131 men, of which 34 were in hospital against c4,000 Zulu worriers. Jones' 716 award was due to him saving the patients from the hospital, despite receiving four spear wounds and being shot once. Ironically, due to the cause of his death (suicide) some years later his headstone faces the opposite way to the grave. RIP.
NB: Because soldiers in Welsh Regiments had the same name they were referred to by the last three numbers of their army number.
